One and a half days of misplaced focus later, and the framework to upload things to this site should fully be in place. Working on this took me back to some of the amateur web-dev I did back in highschool… the toolkit of inheritable templates and built-in liquid functions in Jekyll were absolutely the tool I didn’t know I wanted back then. Definitely a lot less clunky than the weird php workarounds that I was coming up with, ahahahaha.
I have crossposted my guide to the HnK series here from my tumblr. At the time when I first wrote the guide, the platform seemed like my best choice for hosting it, due to being so very multi-media and leveraging Tumblr’s photoset feature. Well, I should have known that would eventually bite me in the ass, because Tumblr is a half-functioning platform on a good day: I can no longer save edits to the post. I had a few errata that I’d needed to fix after sharing the page with the discord folks, but now with the new anime project on the horizon I really wanted to have up-to-date info on it. So I’ve added a new sub-section for the remake and made some minor updates to things that have changed since I wrote the post (ex status of Regenesis, number of Viz volume releases, etc.)
Anyways, cool new feature list:
CSS for print layout.
Automatic RSS feed of blog posts.
Music player should automatically keep playing where you were as you navigate the site.
Aside: I have noticed some issues where it sometimes starts playing on a new page load, even if it was paused before unloading. As far as I can tell, the stored cookie should be telling the page NOT to play on load, so I’m not sure what the cause here is… (the fact that it’s not reproducible doesn’t help).
Page for /writing/ that automatically collects stats and timestamps for relevant sub-pages.
Tweaks and bugfixes to overall layout, particularly TOC display on mobile.
At this point I think this is about all the time I can justify spending on this site until I finish my Toxic Yuri Jam project. When that is finished I’m looking forward to linking it on my upcoming /games page– I’m definitely going to be talking about this one for a while.
