DEMO/First Chapter

In a world where the rich are functionally immortal, Ember signs up for underground duels to the death to make ends meet. As she navigates this cutthroat world of deadly competition between cyborgs, she draws the personal attention of her manager and the league’s longtime reigning champion— both individuals who take great delight in the suffering they cause in the arena. Will Ember choose to confront and embrace the cruelty that caused her past relationships to fail, or will she die on her way to becoming the champion?

Features

• ~12k total script, about an hour
• Core stat-raising/dating-sim game loop
• Autonomous shortsword duel simulation, with outcomes based on player stats
• Complete vertical slice of the first chapter of the game, regular updates to come

Update Roadmap

Expect either 3 or 4 chapters total, depending on how I decide to bundle some events.

Noise Jam 2 Update (Early March):

• More CGs, minor visual improvements
• Implement critical bugfixes/feedback
• Release “Duel Log Reader”

Chapter 2 Update (Q2 2026):

• 12+ new story events
• Simulation improvements:
  • Add “long range” fighting style
  • Add more ways to break out of neutral
  • Duel text log interpreter improvements
  • Other tweaks to make winning probability better correlate with player stats

Known Problems

The game hangs after “It can’t be long now, the match—”

Try waiting a minute or two, this is usually because the duel simulation is running in the background, which may take a while if you skipped the leadup text and depending on hardware specs. If this doesn’t work or you get an error, go back to the main menu and reload the save.
